Coronavirus has caused upheaval and instability in programs and activities around the world, including social and behavior change communications (SBCC) efforts. Nevertheless, SBCC remains crucial to achieving sustained health behavior outcomes in various health areas. While we will need to continue using proven frameworks and best practices to develop SBCC campaigns, it will be important to innovate to develop safe, appropriate channels of communication.
Traditionally, SBCC programs have relied heavily on interpersonal communications through community health workers and peer educators, particularly in low resource settings. But such face-to-face interaction could be a challenge in this new age of physical distancing. Digital communications can be used to continue—and even improve—targeted and consistent communications while greatly enhancing bi-directional communications with audiences. This webinar will explore innovations in the use of digital channels for SBCC and discuss opportunities for their application amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
