Abt Global to Partner with U.S. Department of Interior to Facilitate Clean Energy Collaborations

Body

Rockville, Md.  – Under a new blanket purchase agreement (BPA), Abt Global will help the U.S. Department of Interior’s (DOI) Bureau of Ocean and Energy Management (BOEM) collaborate with a range of partners to maximize investments in clean energy and infrastructure development.

Understanding that the energy needs of the future must be balanced with the need to protect our environment, BOEM manages the development of energy, mineral, and geological resources in an environmentally and economically responsible way. Through this $65 million BPA, Abt will help BOEM convene and coordinate the efforts and insights of tribal nations; state and local governments; other federal agencies; and the fishing, maritime, and offshore wind communities—because successful solutions require input from those most impacted.

To ensure BOEM receives meaningful partner involvement through which all voices are heard, respected, considered, and incorporated, Abt will facilitate and coordinate several events, including meetings and workshops with impacted parties; develop outreach materials, including data visualizations; and provide additional problem solving, design assistance, facilitation, assessments, collaborative communication, and conflict management expertise.

BOEM has awarded two initial task orders under this BPA to the Abt team. The team will leverage decades of experience working with Tribes and state governments, providing them with expert testimony, cost recovery, and restoration services to facilitate the resolution of natural resource damage assessments and other environmental policy, science, and technology challenges.

“Abt understands that collaboration with frontline communities and other key partners is the best way to meet environmental goals that serve everyone’s needs,” explained Paul Anninos, Abt VP of Environmental & Natural Resources. "We apply this approach with other organizations at the federal, state, and local levels, and we’re excited to do the same as we deepen our partnership with DOI.”
