Rockville, Md. – Millions of Americans rely on home care after an injury or illness, and on hospice care for end-of-life support, paid for by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). To ensure quality care for a responsible cost, CMS has contracted with Abt Global to help determine quality standards for home and hospice care through the Home Health (HH) and Hospice quality reporting programs (QRP) and national implementation of the Home Health Value Based Purchasing (HHVBP) program.
Under the $38.4 million Measure Instrument Development and Support (MIDS) contract, Abt will leverage our more than 40 years of experience helping CMS improve the quality and efficiency of care for Medicare beneficiaries. Abt and our partners—Lantana, Telligen, RAND Corporation, OASIS Answers, Inc, the University of Colorado, and Dr. Claire Ankuda—will continue our successful implementation and maintenance of the HH and hospice QRPs and the HH VBP program. The team will also help align measures used in HHVBP with those in HHQRP to create quality measurement synergies and efficiencies.
“This an exciting expansion—and an important culmination—of the work we’ve been doing to help CMS identify, reward, and promote high-value, high-quality care,” said ZeAmma Brathwaite, Abt VP of U.S. Domestic Healthcare Services. “As payment policy shifts from fee-for-service to value-based incentives, accurate measurement of quality is critical to ensure people who require rehabilitative services, are seriously ill, or are at end of life receive the care they need and the quality they deserve.”
