Kate Durocher has more than 25 years of experience in marketing and communication. The first half of her career focused heavily on digital marketing and activation for consumer and pharmaceutical brands when she worked at advertising agencies and as a marketing director for WebMD. For the past decade she has focused on public health communication and community engagement for federal clients.
She has led and supported multiple contracts for CDC, SAMHSA, HRSA, and other federal agencies on topics ranging from substance use and mental health recovery to cervical cancer prevention. Her experience working in different sectors enables her to approach challenges with an innovative mindset. She has a proven record of collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including subject matter experts, health communication specialists, communication researchers, health equity specialists, media buyers, plain language writers, designers, videographers, and web developers.
She recently led communication and community engagement for the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry (ATSDR) PFAS Exposure Assessment and The Pease Pilot Health Study. Both projects required communication plans to spread awareness and activate participant enrollment in the studies. She was also involved in recruitment for the COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness studies and currently leads a contract to develop cervical cancer prevention materials for patients in safety-net settings of care. For the Zika Prevention campaign on behalf of CDC, Kate was part of the team that used the behavioral Precaution Adoption Process Model (PAPM) to change awareness, attitudes, and behaviors about Zika in the Southern U.S. and Puerto Rico.
