PROJECT
SSVF TA
The Challenge
Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) is a Veterans Affairs program that provides grants to more than 250 private, non-profit organizations (grantees) and consumer cooperatives that rapidly re-house low-income Veteran households. The goal is to serve those experiencing homelessness--and to prevent homelessness for those at imminent risk due to a housing crisis--through Veteran-centered, equity-led, housing first-oriented supportive services.
The Approach
Abt Global, in partnership with the Technical Assistance Collaborative (TAC), is providing technical assistance (TA) to increase SSVF grantees’ ability to establish and operate best practices-informed programs. TA is provided through data support and analysis, trainings, intensive direct community or regional supports, and capacity building. TAC and Abt have developed a high quality, comprehensive core curriculum that serves as a strong foundation for program development, operations, and program improvement. Much of Abt’s work on this project builds on Abt’s technical assistance to HUD's Continuum of Care and Emergency Solutions Grant programs, as well as our work with HUD’s data collection and reporting on homelessness in the United States.
